Interventions on Painting Conservation

Paintings are subject to various structural problems such as flaking paint, canvas distortions, or loose stretchers. Canvases with tears or punctures require delicate repair. We employ techniques such a tear mending, strip-lining, or full lining in order to stabilise and strengthen the canvas, ensuring the artwork’s longevity and minimising the visibility of the damage.

Applying a new layer of varnish not only enhances the vibrancy and colour saturation of a painting but also provides protection against environmental factors. As conservators, we apply appropriate varnishes, carefully matching the aesthetic intent of the artist. If required, we can also perform retouching to fill in the areas of loss, ensuring an harmonious integration with the original artwork.
